episode 2...copenhaven

We went to Copenhagen from Stockholm by bus and the journey took 9 hours! But I had good rest on the bus and by the time we reached Copenhagen, we were in good shape. There were plenty of castles, palaces in the city to visit and by now I have forgotten the exact names of them but I roughly remember their use and location in the city. Because like the other cities we visited, our main mode of transportation is a piedi(by foot), unless we want to save time. Transportation in Scandinavian country is grotesquely expensive. In Stockholm a monthly concession costs 600SEK and tts equivalent to a whopping 150SGD! In Turin its only 16.50eu (33SGD) and tts even cheaper than Singapore! But we still like to take free rides. Yes, CHALLENGE THE SYSTEM! Cheap thrill

ok,back to the point. Presenting

COPENHAGEN

the land of H.C. Anderson and bicycles and Carlsberg and many more!

But i still love it anyway.*sayang*

The next day was a day trip to Helsingor, to visit the Kronborg Castle, or also known as Shakespeare's Hamlet.

It was a gloomy cloudy day, perfect setting for a castle notorious for its atrocities.

heh heh heh...poor winnie

ok, the atrocities part is true. it used to house soldiers but the soldiers were mistreated and their only consolation was the almost-free-flow of beer. Their bunks are underground and the humidity is almost 100%. For minor mistakes they were punished severely. They even resorted to murdering their mates so that they could get capital punishment instead.

Back in the city, we went to Christiania, this town in Copenhagen where they are free from the laws of the rest of Copenhagen. I dunno if it's self-declared but it's non-EU. It is legal to peddle soft drugs and whoever who does hard drugs will be driven out of the community. People are free to join in and nobody owns any property in this town. It is indeed a strange concept to us. Many are middle-aged and they seem to be stuck in their hippy era.

somewhere near Christiania, there's the Church of our Saviour. It has a interesting spiral spire which we decided to climb up.

It didn't looked too high up from below...

and it was too late when i realised how high it was! Almost hyperventilatin, i had to grab on to the door for support.

That was not the highest we can climb. Caline and Winnie proceeded to climb up to the narrowest part of the spiral staircase. They wanted me to go but no thanks man. I'm fine with looking at the pictures. You see for yourself how high it was...

In the evening we rushed to get some shopping done. The shops close at 6pm! and the next day they will be closed too as it's the Denmark Liberation Day.

In the background you see the world longest shopping pedestrian street.. stroget. It is so long they need different names for the different sections of the street.

Caline and I stayed for one more day and we visited the other attractions in town, taking our own sweet time.

this is the last castle we visited.. felt like an abandoned palace but i think parts of it are under renovation...

it wld haf been a good end to our short trip but stupid EUROLINE (the bus company we paid to bring us back to Stockholm) was late! for 2 hours! we and 4 others stood in the cold for 2 hours! and we almost walked away...it was like a worst case scenario. lawyer-to-be Caline sweared to lodge a complaint, haf u? hahah.. we were so angry when we boarded the bus and when we asked for a compensation from the bus driver she feigned tt she doesnt understand english. yah rite..
