lelong lelong!

had a great stuffy and humid evening at tanglin mall for some flea market sale.. one day there and u will never think $10 clothes are juz clothes that are 'buy-and-ok-to-not-wear' types. because.. the ppl there only buy clothes that are below 4 bucks. if u get to sell a pair of brand new jeans like meijie for 7bucks, u are in luck. well, i even sold a tee shirt for 50 cents! (because it was free and i haf never and will never wear it)

it was a really enriching experience. got to meet ppl i've never really interacted before w.. ppl like bangla workers (who likes meijie's stuff and my tie-dye shorts), maids (there's this one who's really cute! she was very farnie and was one of our major customer).

and of course there were weird ppl too.. we were terrified by this bangla who insisted on buying mj's polo tee for 2bucks, but we insisted not to sell it below 5 bucks.. he sounded like he was threatening us. so we decided to keep that shirt out to avoid further trouble. there was also this lady who was interested in xy's clinique moisturiser. the actual price was 50+ but she planned to sell it at 25. it's brand new. den she took it, opened the bottle, sniffed it..almost tested it.. and asked for $5!!!!!!! she claimed it was the market price at flea markets. after she left, she decided to keep that since it was impossible to sell. the stupid woman came back at least twice to ask for it, to buy it at 5bucks. some ppl are juz insisted ya

in the end, i earned bout 18bucks only. not alot, but i'm glad i managed to free some shelf space in my wardrobe.

read this article on the sunday times by my favourite journalist, sumiko tan, bout maids and bangla workers, bout them as unsung heroes of singapore who earned so little. felt i could relate to this especially after yesterday's experience, as i saw them bargain down to every cent with us. and the contented looks on their face as they walked away with their bag bulging with satisfied purchases of the day.
