job hunting

i went job hunting today aiming to find a part time job that pays ard 5.50 per hr. or at least 5 bucks for a start.. but from my job hunting session today, i learnt that such jobs are really hard to find!!!! first i went to this cafe where my frens used to work at with them, and their friend who is still working there told us we will be paid 4 bucks per hr for the first wk cos we are inexperienced.. and the jobscope includes cooking (dishes like curry chicken,dory fillet, etc ), washing (without a dishwasher), cashiering, cleaning up the place (including mopping)..

thinking that was the worst pay rate i've ever heard, we turned down the job. then i went to esplanade to meet my other frens, and passed by mrs fields. they were looking for part timer. so i went in and filled up the application form.. afterwhich the lady told me, ' for part timer, we only pay $3.50..'

goodness.. is that the rate nowadays or wat?
