cultural immersion day I

i embarked on this 3-day 'cultural immersion programme' today..

morning
BOAT QUAY - went down the river and took a closer look at the architecture of the shophouses, design of metal works and also the road paving patterns.

evening
NUS LT 13 - EVOCATION by NUS DANCE ENSEMBLE
went to support a classmate, Cici in her dance performance. This was my 2nd year viewing the annual concert by the nus dance ensemble. I may be no expert in dance, but it was an invigorating experience. It was a fusion of modern dance, hip-hop, r&b and even tango and ballet. Look at how the dancers shake their bodies! Look at those moves! Look at those figures! I was thinking, dancing is actually a very demanding sport. Not only u have to be fit, u got to haf a good sense of music, the right body language, the right figure, in order to perform your dance well. And the skills! All those hard work, sweat, and blood and tears.. RESPECT!

night
ARTS CENTRAL - IKIRU by KUROSAWA
This is a movie about a man who found out he had gastric cancer. it was set in those days when getting cancer means getting a death sentence. there wasnt even chemotherapy to give you hope. so wat will you do if you realise you are gng to die in less than half a yr's time? will you tell ur loved ones? will you tell anybody? in the show, the old man was lonely and not many frens. he had a son whom he could not communicate with, and he was so lost until he found somebody to confide in and got some direction in his life. in the end he did something meaningful for the public (he was working as a chief in some town council) and those strangers whose life he touched cried more bitter than his own son during his funeral.

back to the qn, wat will u do?
doing something meaningful seems to be the best (and most correct) answer..
but to do it in a dramatic way, i'll like to canoe to the end of the world until i pass away. i'll juz capsize and join the mermaids. imagine, a solitary figure in the vast ocean, swallowed by the waves.. you noe, something like the old grandpa in the jap show BEACH BOYs, in which he surfed to his death in a storm. mmm ya.. although it's pretty sad and selfish to die alone, but it will be a place where i love, doing something i love.

okay..i think the above was pretty weird things i've juz said.. about my own death. well, what may come, will come one day. Live life to the fullest!

yup so stay tuned to my 'cultural immersion' journal..
