i went to sentosa today!

XM & i volunteered to help KK to bring some Chao Yang School kids to Sentosa today, and so we went.. I'm really sorry that i actually expected most of the children studying there to be down syndrome kids, cos most of them are not! Well, from what I see from the school today, their students are just those who have slower learning abilities, or have problems coping with the Singapore syllabus. We had fun interacting with them because they are just so friendly! I find that their thinking is generally rather simple and they trust people very easily. People whom they meet for the first time, like us. Maybe it's because they are kids. Not like adults, like us. Guess that's why I love kids! Although they may be abit noisy, abit stinko at times..hah. Many of them had their parents with them. One common trait in the parents we realised is that they are very patient with their kids, always speaking to them in soft and loving tones, even when their kids are rowdy. Very nice.Unlike those u see shouting at their kids in the shopping centres.

Technically our jobs are supposed to be just deliver them to and fro their school and Sentosa. But in actual fact, i think we din do much besides playing around and eating. Ya..cos their parents were with them to look after them and after we reached Sentosa, we saw soo many other volunteers whose jobs were supposed to bring them around. Erm, ya so we ate the delicious catered lunch..yeah there were even MUSSELS! think the caterer is Kriston if i'm not wrong.. The kids got to visit the Dolphin Lagoon and Underwater World, which there were not enough tickets for us to go in. So basically we hanged out with another of KK's friend, Kelvin, this PE teacher Henry, another volunteer Joyce, a Cocker Spaniel called Ziggy (its got the most handsome coat i ever seen!) and his bald owner (too engrossed playing w his dog to ask for his name..heh). Oh ya I think i havnet been to the Underwater World for soo long! you noe they keep Sawfish at their entrance! And we saw this one which knocked its saw snout against the rocks at the side of the man-made enclosure for them..it was quite a hilarious sight... later on we read that their snouts have electrolytes tt can sense their preys' heartbeats! den we joked tt ya but too bad they cannot sense rocks..heh sorry sawfish! we cannot help it...

the snout

yea, so basically there was nothing much to do... and we decided to leave earlier...yup it was quite a fun day, but at the expense of time that could have been spent on our projs. hai...well, i felt like i din really do much for them, and that wat makes it seem 'wasted' time..
